Helfner, MD will join ENTA as of August 1, 2015 at its brand new, 16,000 Sq. ft. state-of-the-art clinical facility in Hauppauge, New York, located at 2929 Expressway Drive North.
In the Hauppauge office, which is scheduled to open in the summer of 2015, Dr. Helfner will join otolaryngologists Eric Bergson, MD; Joseph Bonafede, MD; Todd Campbell, MD; Robert Gargano, MD; Rob Gottlieb, MD; Edward Lipinsky, MD; Thomas O’Donnell, MD; and Anna Stern, MD. Each of these highly trained physicians is board-certified in Otolaryngology and skilled in all aspects of ENT including Otology, Head and Neck Surgery, Sinus Surgery, Pediatric Otolaryngology, Laryngology, and Sleep Medicine.
Laura C. Helfner, M.D. graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree from Nebraska Wesleyan University. She then went on to receive her Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Nebraska College of Medicine. She completed her internship and residency in Internal Medicine at Hofstra North Shore – LIJ School of Medicine, and is American Board of Internal Medicine certified.
Dr. Helfner is currently finishing a fellowship in pediatric and adult Allergy and Immunology at Cohen Children's Medical Center of New York. She has conducted research in numerous aspects of the field, including drug allergy, metal hypersensitivity, asthma, and immune deficiencies, and has published and presented her research at numerous national meetings. She is a member of the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology (AAAAI), American College of Allergy, Asthma, and Immunology (ACAAI), the Long Island Allergy and Asthma Society, the New York Allergy and Asthma Society, the Medical Society of the State of New York, and the American College of Physicians.
Dr. Helfner treats both pediatric and adult patients for all types of allergic and immunologic conditions, including allergic rhinitis (hay fever) and allergic eye conditions, asthma and pulmonary function testing, sinus disease, food allergy, medication allergy, hives, eczema, contact dermatitis and patch testing, insect allergy and recurrent infections.
