Environmental Engineering Firm, Terra-Petra, Continues to Expand LA City Deputy Methane Inspector Team
Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) July 29, 2013 -- Most governing agencies require methane gas barrier inspections. Terra-Petra, an environmental engineering firm based in Los Angeles, has announced that it will continue to expand its current Deputy Methane (Barrier) Inspection team as methane barrier inspection services become more and more in demand and necessary in the City of Los Angeles. All Terra-Petra methane mitigation design and construction inspectors are certified by the City of Los Angeles as Deputy Methane Barrier Inspectors (DMBI). The company's DMBI team is familiar with all of the approved methane gas barrier systems on the market today and each team member undergoes a 40 hour trained in Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response (HAZWOPER). For Terra-Petra, job-site safety is its first priority.
All methane gas mitigation, building protection and waterproofing systems should be inspected by a certified professional with experience in these systems to assure the owner/developer that all of the elements of the approved plans, (elements which they have paid for) are properly installed and functioning. Most governing agencies, like the City of Los Angeles will require these inspections. Additionally, many waterproofing manufacturers will also require these inspections for insurance purposes, to issue a material and/or labor warranty for their products. There is a multitude of unforeseen and unfamiliar site conditions which make these inspections prudent for all parties and Terra-Petra has gone the distance to ensure that all points are covered for their clients at all times.
The City of Los Angeles Department of Building and Safety requires continuous inspection by a Deputy Methane Barrier Inspector (DMBI) for the installation of all subslab gravel layers and for methane barrier membranes. According to Kevin Buchanan, President of Terra-Petra, "Our methane inspectors hold inspection certifications from each manufacturer of methane barrier membranes which is approved under LADBS Research Report for use in the City of Los Angeles—as well as many other methane gas and waterproofing barrier systems on the market today."
According to Terra-Petra's VP/GM, Justin Conaway, Deputy Methane Inspectors have completed Certification Training by each individual manufacturer to inspect all 8 approved methane barrier membrane systems having a Los Angeles Research Report. Additionally, the company's Deputy Methane Inspectors assure all clients (owners/developers) that all of the elements of the approved plans, (elements which they have paid for) are properly installed and functioning and that the installation is in full compliance with the approved plans and with the requirements of the governing agencies. Working closely with installing contractors Terra-Petra's DMBI's continue to implement successful inspections. Smoke Test Certification is also provided when and where required.
Starting at the pre-construction phase, Terra-Petra deputy methane inspectors work with the governing agency, the local Building Official, the General Contractor, the product manufacturer and the subcontractors to establish an acceptable guideline for installation of the systems as well as monitoring, documenting and reporting our findings.
