JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (PRWEB) December 15, 2017 -- Envisage International, a leader in international education marketing, Flywire, the premier provider of international payment and receivable solutions, and IvyWise, the world’s leading educational consultancy, are delighted to announce their joint effort to support School the World (STW). These three companies, all deeply committed to international education, will embark together on a journey to Guatemala to support STW in its ongoing effort to make quality education accessible to children in poor rural areas around the world.
“Together our three companies will fund and build a school in Guatemala, but School the World is an incredible organization that does so much more than just build schools.” says Keith Clausen, President of Envisage International. “By enlisting community and government support, training teachers and parents, building playgrounds and libraries and committing to each of their communities for at least 5 years, the School the World model ensures that education in those communities will be forever changed.”
In March 2018 Envisage, Flywire and IvyWise will send a combined total of 21 volunteers to Guatemala for one week to complete construction of a new school and accompanying playground in one of the country’s poorest communities. STW’s program is carefully designed to improve the overall accessibility of public education and quality of teachers within the rural Guatemalan village where the school is built, but most importantly, to engage the entire community into the initiative so that community ownership ensures long-term success.
“Through this venture our team is not just building a school, they’re paving the way for change within a poverty-stricken community where many families live on less than $2 a day,” said Kat Cohen, CEO of IvyWise. “The program engages parents, and partners with local governments to create a vested interest which has a positive impact across the board. Everyone at IvyWise is thrilled to participate.”
Each volunteer commits to fund-raising half of the cost of their participation, with the companies contributing the other half plus the necessary fixed amount to cover the hard costs of school construction.
“The impact these volunteers will have in Guatemala is really meaningful,” said Mike Massaro, CEO of Flywire. “Children need a safe place to learn and explore, the Flywire volunteers will devote a week of their time to build the foundation of a stable learning environment that will last for generations to come. We’re equally excited for the benefit to our volunteers – the life-changing experience and awakening that STW has seen in so many of its student participants.”
STW first broke ground in Guatemala in 2009 and has since built 53 schools and 30 playgrounds, trained more than 255 teachers and enrolled nearly 6,400 students in Honduras and Guatemala combined. Their popular student service trip, where high school groups travel to Guatemala to build a school, offered a blueprint for this first-ever corporate trip.
EIC, Flywire and IvyWise are delighted to be a part of such an impactful endeavor that aligns with their passion for international education, and will provide updates throughout the fundraising initiative, the actual journey to Guatemala and completion of the project.
