ePortfolio Tech Company, SchoolChapters, Releases Deeper Blackboard Learn Integration
West Hartford, Connecticut (PRWEB) March 19, 2014 -- SchoolChapters Inc., a technology company providing portable outcomes-based ePortfolios for education since 2008, announced today the availability of an enhanced Building Block that deepens the integration between the platform and Blackboard Learn™, Blackboard Inc.’s flagship Learning Management System. SchoolChapters’ strategic development was supported by an investment from Houghton Mifflin Harcourt in 2013.
Through SchoolChapters’ interoperability with Blackboard Learn, clients can implement a cost-effective solution that collects, aligns, and presents unlimited data for accreditation and assessment while increasing student engagement and employability. The Building Block provides users with portable ePortfolios, access to free mobile apps, and 24/7 support.
This updated release comes only months after the launch of SchoolChapters’ ePortfolios for Higher Education Building Block in October 2013. Future integration between the ePortfolio platform and Blackboard Learn will be announced later this year as SchoolChapters continues to work with Blackboard as a new Premier Partner™.

Identified as an increasing need in Higher Education, SchoolChapters’ newest release and enhanced feature list focuses on developing additional integration to support student engagement strategies. In addition to interoperability with LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter, and Tumblr, students have access to more ePortfolio templates that support blogging and video. The ePortfolios, which remain student-owned and completely portable for editing post-graduation, are built with responsive design and are accessible through a fully functional mobile app for iPads. Portability includes individual cloud-based hosting and options to integrate with other systems. Institutions can access SchoolChapters’ API for additional customized integration points.
In order to support innovation at an instructor level and ensure that students have additional ways to showcase verifiable achievements, SchoolChapters has embraced the Mozilla Open Badges initiative to allow distribution of custom or pre-designed badges within the ePortfolio. Additional enhancements to the SchoolChapters Rubric Builder include complete integration with badges, with continued access to the pre-loaded VALUE rubrics, one-click grading and the ability for instructors to design their own rubrics.
