Ethel Bermejo Joins Bixby International as Development Program Manager
Newburyport, MA (PRWEB) April 07, 2015 -- Bixby International, a custom thermoplastic sheet extruder and laminator offering one of the broadest polymer and substrate selections in the industry, has recently added Ethel Bermejo to its Research & Development department.
Bermejo, a native of Barcelona, Spain, earned her BSc. and MSc. in Chemistry at the University of Barcelona. During her last year of study, she was awarded two scholarships to work at the University of Glasgow under the supervision of Professor Daniel Price. While there, Bermejo wrote and presented her research project, which was entitled “Hydrothermal Synthesis of Compounds Derived from Cobalt and Oxalates."
After completing her honors project in Scotland, Bermejo returned to Spain where she did a six-month internship at the Super Computational Center of Catalonia (CESCA). Shortly thereafter, she took part in another six-month internship, this one at Esbelt, a Spanish-based manufacturer of conveyor belts. It was during her time there that Bermejo was introduced to the fascinating world of polymers and their endless possibilities. In 2011, after finishing her internships and receiving her degrees, Bermejo joined The Lubrizol Corporation-Merquinsa (TPU) as a member of its Research & Development application department.
At the end of 2014, Bermejo took her passion for polymers to Bixby International, where she was hired as a development program manager, working under the supervision of VP R&D Marc Gagnon. In addition to defining projects based on the unique requirements of customers, and leading independent R&D application projects, Bermejo also implements new technologies in Bixby’s Application Laboratory, which helps yield valuable information about the properties of products and their processing performance.
