Ethiopia’s Aspiring Global Leader Hiwot Adane Among The Intern Group’s 2017 Scholarship Winners
Santiago, Chile (PRWEB) April 13, 2017 -- International internship provider The Intern Group (TIG) is pleased to announce its four 2017 scholarship winners. A total of US$9,500 in program expenses will be covered by the company to facilitate international internships for these four outstanding young professionals seeking global experiences.
Of the four scholarships offered in 2017, The Intern Group’s 2017 Global Leadership Grant will go to Hiwot Adane from Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. This US$3,000 scholarship will cover half of the international internship program fee for Hiwot Adane to spend six weeks in Hong Kong.
Short stints abroad in France and the United States fueled Hiwot Adane’s passion to pursue international professional experiences.
“I wanted to really come out of my comfort zone and advance my talents in a totally new environment by challenging myself so that I can improve my community using all the tools available,” said Adane, who hopes to use this opportunity to advance pan-Africanism and the African Union’s 2063 Agenda.
“I probably would not have applied for the Intern Group program if there wasn’t a scholarship available simply because the participation fee is high. When I found out about the Global Leadership Grant I was excited to apply because it got me a step closer to an opportunity I didn’t think was possible for me.”
Hiwot Adane Haile will be working in either an NGO or engineering internship in Hong Kong, earning real-world professional experience among leading industry professionals.
“Experiencing an internship in one of the biggest powerhouse cities in the world is a dream come true for me, both professionally and personally. I am looking forward to making international friendships and forging a lifetime partnership that would benefit me, my business and my community all in one.”
Thanks to this unique professional opportunity Hiwot Adane will be able to utilize her insider industry knowledge and professional contacts to improve the lives of her fellow nationals in Ethiopia.
“Comprehensive, hands-on education with world-renowned experts is not something I could get anywhere else but through an international internship,” said Adane.
“The platform will give me access to pick the brains of the mentors and other professionals around the world. It will hand me all the essential tools to become successful in my endeavor as a civic leader by doing. I am certain that I will come out a better professional than when I came in.”
Hiwot Adane graduated from Addis Ababa University with a degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering. Her professional experience includes working as a coding teacher with the U.S. Embassy’s Girls Can Code project and serving as a project manager for the Youth Negotiation on Climate Change Convention.
