Etymotic Creates “Safety Earphones” For High Noise Environments
Elk Grove Village, IL (PRWEB) January 30, 2014 -- Etymotic Research, inventors of the high fidelity, in-ear earphone, and makers of industry leading hearing health products, debuted its new HD5 Safety Earphone at this month’s Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, NV. The product is now available for sale on etymotic.com and other retailers.
Designed for use in high noise environments, HD5 high-definition, noise-isolating Safety Earphones are reduced-output earphones, engineered for safe listening and exceptional sound quality. Risk to hearing is minimized, regardless of the volume level from portable players. HD5 earphones block sound (like earplugs) to reduce external noise and limit the amount of sound that reaches the eardrum. The sound output of HD5 earphones is safer than that of noise-canceling earphones, or earbuds that do not properly seal the ears. Use of these earphones at full volume on portable music players is within OSHA Permissible Exposure Limits for 10 1⁄2 hours per day (52-1⁄2 hours per week).
HD5 Safety Earphones come with ACCU•Fit eartips. A CustomFit ear-mold option is available as well. Earphones that seal the ears reduce external noise. As a result of the noise-isolating properties and reduced output, industrial noise (up to 108 dB with foam eartips and up to 102 dB with 3-flange eartips) has a negligible effect on overall noise dose.
