European Officials from 12 Nations to Explore Youth Engagement in the United States
Washington, DC (PRWEB) July 28, 2014 -- Cultural Vistas is pleased to welcome 13 officials from 12 European nations for a three-week visit focused on youth engagement and leadership development within the United States as part of the U.S. Department of State's International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP).
The 13 participants – representing Armenia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Montenegro, Poland, Romania, Russia, Spain, Turkey, and Ukraine – begin their program today in the nation’s capital.
Over a 22-day span, the group will visit five U.S. cities, including New York City, Manchester, New Hampshire, Austin, Texas, and Seattle, where they will meet with professional counterparts to explore various perspectives and learn about innovative approaches to fostering youth leadership skills and engagement.
This short-term professional exchange is sponsored by the State Department's Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs. The national program itinerary was designed by Cultural Vistas in close cooperation with the State Department to accomplish the following objectives:
• Examine youth engagement through education, economic opportunity, and civic participation;
• Explore youth policy and outreach at the federal, state, and local levels;
• Examine the impact of youth leadership programs on at-risk youth
• Analyze how social media tools are used to develop networks for youth communication and engagement
Cultural Vistas staff will accompany the group for the duration of the program to film and capture interviews, select program activities, and events with the goal of creating a documentary that explores the many facets of the IVLP experience.
