EuroTalk’s chatterbox language app expands into all-round learning tool for primary school children

St Edmund Campion Primary School in Nottingham was one of the pioneers for this new way of learning. Teacher Daniela Wilks runs a chatterbox club once a week, and says her pupils enjoy the interactive and competitive nature of the software, as well as the range of content it offers.
“My pupils love chatterbox as they can ‘dip their toes’ into lots of different languages whilst playing games and having fun. I find that particularly boys enjoy being able to see the ‘ranking’ within our school, which brings a slight competitive element with it.”
As well as languages, the new chatterbox will help children absorb facts, names, concepts and important terms related to key areas of the curriculum: English, maths, science, art and design, computing, design and technology, geography, history, music and physical education.
Each subject is broken down into categories, with content covering topics as diverse as times tables, planets, computer terminology and punctuation. While EuroTalk will regularly add new material to the program, teachers can also create their own, using the pack builder provided within chatterbox.
“This is a new direction for EuroTalk, and with 25 years experience in producing language software, we’re excited about the potential of our learning method to teach other subjects,” said Dick Howeson. “While we remain passionate about learning other languages, we also know there are plenty of things for children to learn in their own language too. With chatterbox, now they can do both.”
The online software is available across Windows and Mac platforms, and children can also learn on tablets. Teachers visiting London’s Bett Show next week will be able to see chatterbox in action, and sign up for a 30-day, no obligation free trial for their school, after which they will have the option to subscribe for half price.
