Eva’s Village Names Gregory Floyd Executive Vice President, Mission
Paterson, NJ (PRWEB) September 22, 2017 -- On August 28, Eva’s Village CEO Mark Schmit announced the appointment of Gregory Floyd as Executive Vice President, Mission. “Gregory joins our senior management team as an advocate for Eva’s mission, needs, outcomes and opportunities,” noted Schmit. “His leadership experience in mission-focused organizations is a great asset for Eva’s Village,” he continued. Floyd will work closely with Eva’s administrative and program staff to guide the organization in promoting its mission and core values as he works to strengthen relationships with peer organizations and constituent groups.
“I am honored to be working with the great clients and the incredibly dedicated staff, board and volunteers at Eva’s Village. There is no end to what we can do to broaden and deepen the mission of Eva’s to address needs in our community for food and shelter, medical and recovery services, education and job training,” noted Floyd. He will be reaching out to community and business groups as well as churches and other faith-based organizations. “Partnerships and collaborations to strengthen our whole community are especially important as we face the challenges of the opioid epidemic. In response to the tsunami of the opioid crisis that is upon us and the many other difficulties that accompany it, Eva’s is working hard to find solutions that are effective to keep people in long-term recovery. Mr. Floyd brings a depth of managerial experience in spiritually-oriented, not-for-profit organizations. Prior to joining Eva’s, he served for ten years as President of Tri-County Scholarship Fund in Parsippany-Troy Hills, NJ. Tri-County awards 400 K-12 scholarships annually to disadvantaged children in Morris, Passaic and Sussex counties who attend private and parochial schools. Before that, he served as the Northeast Regional Director of Legatus, an organization of Catholic business owners and executives, bringing the organization from two to thirteen chapters in the Northeast. Previously, he directed a faith-based non-profit that organized spiritual retreats and conferences across the U.S. Mr. Floyd holds a B.A. in Religious Studies and Comparative Literature from Brown University and earned a Masters in Theological Studies from Seton Hall University. In addition, he has completed course work in non-profit management at Harvard Business School and the University of Indiana Lilly School of Philanthropy.

Founded by Msgr. Vincent E. Puma in 1982, Eva’s Kitchen began by serving 30 meals a day to feed the hungry in Paterson. In response to the related issues of poverty, addiction, mental illness and homelessness, programs and services grew out of the original soup kitchen to address the root causes as well as the effects of homelessness and poverty. Today, Eva’s Village, a non-profit, comprehensive, social service organization, offers 20 integrated programs that address needs in the community for food and shelter, recovery and medical services, and to provide education and job training to help those in need move toward stability and independence.
