Evenflo Feeding & H.E.R.O.E.S. Care Celebrate Military Moms with “Breastfeeding Baby Shower”
West Chester, OH (PRWEB) August 16, 2016 -- Being a breastfeeding mom in the workplace is hard enough- but when your workplace is a military facility, or a physically-demanding training mission in the field, the life of a nursing mother takes on a host of additional obstacles. Couple the privacy issues involved with the fact that some young servicewomen do not have the income or resources needed to get the breastfeeding support they require, and this means that military moms are particularly in need of assistance to meet their breastfeeding goals. That’s why Evenflo Feeding, Inc. has partnered with H.E.R.O.E.S. Care to help pregnant servicewomen at Scott Air Force Base get the best start possible to breastfeeding.
On August 31st, H.E.R.O.E.S Care will host a “Breastfeeding Baby Shower” on base, where military families will receive a free breastfeeding class as well as manual breast pumps, milk storage bags, and breast pads from Evenflo Feeding. These products were specifically selected to serve the needs of the women who serve our country.
“Many of our young Soldiers do not have insurance nor the finances available to purchase breast pumps for personal use. Without this vital tool, most moms will have to give up on breastfeeding because they are unable to express milk when they are away from their children during drill weekend or at training events,” says Captain Tabitha Osiier, a breastfeeding mother who serves in the Missouri National Guard. “The manual pumps are such a valuable asset to us when we go to the field or are traveling and do not have the ability to plug in to power with an electric pump. At a minimum, we are able to continue our milk flow for when we return back to baby, but ideally, the pump allows us to express and store milk for the times we have to be separated.”
The educational component of the Breastfeeding Baby Shower is also essential, since many young military moms are battling scheduling, awareness and economic issues that keep them from attending civilian breastfeeding classes. “We believe the act of feeding a baby is a universal act of love, and as part of our #LetLoveFlo campaign, we are committed to breaking down the barriers that interfere with this love flowing freely,” says Elise Meyer Ring, Senior Director of Marketing at Evenflo Feeding, Inc. “We’re honored to work with H.E.R.O.E.S. Care to offer equipment and education that may make the life of a breastfeeding military mom a little easier, which is the least we can do knowing the sacrifices these women make on a daily basis.”
“We are proud to partner with Evenflo Feeding in making this great goodness available to military moms who’ve made the decision to provide the best possible nutrition for their little ones,” adds Jon Jerome, President and CEO of H.E.R.O.E.S. Care. “A perfect example of how good things happen when a company works to help provide the solution to a problem by doing what they do best.”
