EventBuddie Going for Further Than the Moon on Kickstarter!
London (PRWEB UK) 24 November 2014 -- EventBuddie.com in a bid to raise awareness and aim past the moon, quietly launched its Kickstarter campaign (http://www.kickstarter.com - Search EventBuddie) just before the Lunar campaign last week and interestingly is already 26% funded. Launched in September, http://www.eventbuddie.com, is an online service to connect people locally in touch with like minded individuals to enable them to have eventbuddies for a host of events and activities, whether it be sport, fitness, hobbies, leisure, fans or social activities.
In its recent independent survey of over 2000 adults, 50% of adults surveyed, indicated that they would use such a free service and 60% indicated they had outgrown their current friends in terms of doing activities with them. The key founders behind this brilliantly simple business idea are:

John Gunn explains, “We formed http://www.eventbuddie.com as a free to use, situational friendship site – social media made social if you like – after a light bulb moment during a business trip to Berlin. I realised that I knew no-one in the city but knew I could have had a great visit if I had eventbuddies."
“Being Irish I love to chat and make friends, and I pride myself on my global network of contacts, so I reasoned that if I was sitting in a hotel room being a Billy No Mates, then the same thing must happen to many other business travelers.”
“It struck me too that anyone moving to London for the first time – or even to a new London postcode - may find it difficult to break into a relevant social circle so the framework of http://www.eventbuddie.com was born. From there I chewed over the concept with my contacts and Peter came on board as a business partner as he loved the idea.
“Together we brainstormed the groups of people who may need eventbuddies and how to reach them. As a result we are currently in talks with sport bodies, several hotel chains, ticketing agents and estate agents to name but a few of the channels we are talking to about.
“When numbers of registered users have built up sufficiently from here, we will monetise the site and 10% of the profit will be donated between charities such as Dame Kelly Holmes Legacy Trust, Comic Relief and CentrePoint.
“It’s reassuring that in the current digital age, adults can still count true friends on the fingers of one hand and that they don’t class hundreds of online contacts as friends. Finding eventbuddies with a few clicks means that you can have as rich a social life as you want without having to drag your true friends and family to events unwillingly or force them to do activities they don’t want to do.”
Peter Dickson comments, “It’s only natural that over time we may have less in common with friends we have known for years: what you were both into when you met may have changed dramatically. Your partner may have an all-consuming hobby or job which leaves you home alone more than you’d like or you may simply not know anyone who’s into the same things you are and don’t want to go solo all the time.
