Everest Academy Launches Full Day Preschool
Lemont, IL (PRWEB) August 20, 2013 -- Beginning this week, Everest Academy on Bell Road in Lemont, IL will be extending their Four-Year-Old Preschool Program to a full school day in order to better nurture the young students qualities, discovery skills, and love of learning. As part of an International Network of Schools, Everest Academy offers an accelerated curriculum that begins at age three and continues through eighth grade. The Everest Academy Preschool Programs combine the best methods in early childhood education. The preschool day at both the three year old and four year old levels blend a mix of child-selected educational center activities, teacher-directed learning activities, as well as one-on-one instruction with the student. This combination allows the young student to remain engaged and eager to participate and learn with the teacher as the primary role model.
Since Everest Academy students are educated to be well-rounded leaders, there is an emphasis on confidence-building speech and critical thinking skills beginning at the preschool level. The preschool curriculum includes concepts and skills in all basic subject areas including religion, reading, writing, math, science, history/geography, Spanish, art, music and physical education. In the full-day PreK Four Program, the teachers are in a position to approach the curriculum in different teaching methods for different learning styles.
Mrs. Mary Ann DeBiase, one of the PreK Four teachers at Everest, is excited about the longer school day. Mrs. DeBiase recently explained, “Having those few extra hours in our day will enable the Everest curriculum to unfold and come alive in greater depth with more hands-on activities and simply more time to learn, explore and teach. The longer school day is structured for the benefit of the student. Four year olds are at a crucial point of laying the foundation for kindergarten with their academic skills as well as their own individual growth.” This will enable the students more time to acquire the basic building blocks that develop into a life-long love of learning. The early character education also helps Everest students develop the groundwork to become leaders with strong virtues.
Principal, Christine Gamache noted that a full day curriculum is part of the Everest Brand of Schools, developed over 20 years ago and recently revised in 2010. “The full day reflects the intended curriculum to best prepare students for our accelerated Kindergarten.” Everest will also be in alignment to the majority of the PreK 4 programs offered through the Archdiocese of Chicago, who provide full day preschool programs to their families.
Play, creativity, movement and rest are peppered throughout the preschoolers’ day which extends from 8:00 A.M. to 3:00 P.M. The motivation for the child to succeed comes from the loving encouragement given to the child to develop their unique personality and creativity. In this positive and gentle environment the child learns about the world around him realizes what it means to take care of him or herself, help one’s neighbor, and bring about change in the world.
Everest Academy is an independent Roman Catholic school in Lemont educating children from preschool through eighth grade. The teachers and staff are dedicated to forming the whole child by providing the highest level of academics, by building strong character, and by preparing generous leaders ready to serve the community.
