Exceptional Women in Publishing Selects Kara Swisher of AllThingsD as the 2014 EWIP Award Recipient
San Francisco, CA (PRWEB) December 18, 2013 -- Exceptional Women in Publishing (EWIP) is pleased to announce that the 16th recipient of the Exceptional Woman in Publishing Award is Kara Swisher, co-executive editor of AllThingsD, a website covering technology, the Internet, and media. The 2014 EWIP Award will be presented to her during EWIP’s 6th annual Women’s Leadership Conference in San Francisco on March 6, 2014.
Ms. Swisher is an author, commentator, and co-executive editor of AllThingsD. She also co-produces and co-hosts, along with Walt Mossberg, D: All Things Digital, an annual conference that features candid interviews with figures such as Steve Jobs, Sheryl Sandberg, and many other leading players in the tech and media industries. Previously, Ms. Swisher worked as a reporter at the Washington Post. She began covering digital issues for The Wall Street Journal’s San Francisco bureau in 1997 and her column BoomTown originally appeared on the front page of the Marketplace section and online at WSJ.com. Ms. Swisher continues to break news stories about the Web’s major players and Internet policy issues. She is a graduate of Georgetown University and the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism.
Each year EWIP selects an accomplished woman to receive the Exceptional Woman in Publishing Award. Honorees have made extraordinary contributions to publishing and have achieved prominence, demonstrating success and leadership in exceptional ways. “Kara is a well-respected journalist with a strong following,” says EWIP President Máire P. Walsh. “Her unremitting push to expose the lack of women in leadership positions is having the impact we need to see action from tech and media companies. She is a very worthy recipient.”
