Exciting Changes at The Groaning Board: New Chef, New Menu
Portland, OR (PRWEB) August 03, 2015 -- On Tuesday, August 4th, The Groaning Board is launching a brand new fully renovated menu. The menu will still be inline with the theme “comfort food with a twist” and continue featuring locally sourced, fresh ingredients with a few spice imports from the south. Their new Executive Chef, Debbie Frangipane, prompted the menu change.
Debbie Frangipane, also known as Dolce Debbie, moved to Portland from Tampa, Florida. There she was the Executive Chef at Della’s After Dark, was a regular contributor and TV personality on nationally syndicated Daytime TV, wrote for the Tampa Tribune, has been a featured publisher for Foodbuzz.com, and WeFollow.com listed her as one of the top 25 chefs to follow. She hails from the south (Tennessee, Alabama, Texas) and her southern charm certainly comes out in her elevated southern cooking. You’ll also see inspiration come from her travels throughout Europe and from the time she lived in Venice.
The menu change will feature many southern classics, but served with a twist. An example would be her fried chicken served with a cauliflower mash, Swiss chard and a buttermilk/jalapeno biscuit. Her goal is that those who come in for dinner will leave satisfied, but without that heavy feeling. Her salads will be healthful and filling like her Nicoise Salad using fresh tuna. Specials will often be Italian because that’s her comfort food.
The Groaning Board continues to fold themselves into the community through their monthly neighborhood nights with wine tastings, and ticketed dinners with local vendors such as the Finnriver Cider Dinner on August 8th. Debbie will add her local flair to the South Waterfront neighborhood by going to the Farmer’s Market every Thursday and using ingredients she purchases there for dinner specials that night. She’ll inspire guests with her creativity from ingredients sourced a block away. There’s a lot of buzz in the kitchen with all the changes on the horizon, and we are eager to share with our guests the new menu items that will be unique even to Portland.
About:
The Groaning Board was established in 2014, located in Portland’s South Waterfront neighborhood. The 17th century meaning of groaning board refers to the groaning of a community table heavily laden with food - and that’s the inspiration for the rustic inspired fare served at this locally owned pub. The menu is seasonal with weekly and daily specials derived from fresh ingredients, locally sourced, to add interest to seasonal mainstays. Pit stops after work, sharing platters among friends, and parties of all sizes - for any occasion or just because - will always be welcome.
