ExerciseFriends Moves To Crowdsourcing To Harness the Collective Intelligence Of Its Members
Austin, Texas (PRWEB) July 25, 2013 -- The board of ExerciseFriends, the founding site for people helping each other exceed health, fitness and diet goals voted to make the site crowdsourced for major new site features.
Crowdsourcing is a bottom up, innovative process where members determine new features they want consistent with general guidelines from the organization.
ExerciseFriends.com has used crowdsourcing in some recent studies with great success.
Patrick McCuskey, founder said: “We are publishing our study of the impact of working out with a friend and much of our material came from our members who
shared their success stories and guided us to the right questions to ask. That taught us that there is more wisdom and innovation in our membership than we could ever hire with consultants.”
Crowdsourcing is strategic for ExerciseFriends.com. Last month, the company noted that all memberships will now be no charge. Thus, there should be no barrier for someone to be able to find a friend for diet or exercise.
Members have been requesting features so they could move all their exercise needs to ExerciseFriends. The company listened and is now making the site one where the members will determine which features to build and how to design them.
Jay Valentine of ExerciseFriends said: “Our members are seeking the shared rewards that come from building their own site with the features they want. Some have asked to do the design work themselves. We want to open the site to our members to harness their imagination and make the site one the members built.”
In a study conducted by ExerciseFriends earlier this year, they found significant scientific support that working out with a partner has far greater success—measured in weight loss or meeting diet or exercise goals—than doing so alone.
This study, with much of its research based on the ExerciseFriends.com membership, is being released later this year.
ExerciseFriends.com, is the first social media community to discover the secret that dieting fails 99% of the time and exercise programs started in January typically fail by May yet when dieting or exercising with a friend----people exceed their goals 95% of the time.
Launched as an Austin, Texas startup ExerciseFriends.com has grown to hundreds of thousands of members applying social media to America’s most dangerous health problem---obesity.
ExerciseFriends.com now teams with leading health, fitness, diet and wellness leaders to change the workout paradigm to working out with a friend. Proceeds go to charity.
In 2013, ExerciseFriends.com made all membership levels 100% free.
