Experient Health Details How to Test Fitness Levels in Latest Post in Living Well Blog Series
Richmond, VA (PRWEB) December 27, 2013 -- Making resolutions for 2014 that include losing weight and getting fit? Experient Health recommends in its latest Blog post in a living well series on its web site to test fitness levels first to determine where health could improve.
Experient Health, the health insurance arm of the Virginia Farm Bureau, launched a Live Well, Work Well Blog series on its web site this year to help clients and the community stay healthy.

The first component of the test measures aerobic fitness and "how well your heart, blood vessels and lungs work together to deliver blood to your muscles during exercise. A high level of aerobic fitness lowers your risk of several diseases, including coronary heart disease and high blood pressure."
Testing aerobic fitness includes a one-mile walk on a treadmill or track and a one and a half mile run on a treadmill (at zero incline) or on a track.
Much like grade school fitness tests, muscle strength and endurance is tested with sit ups and push ups, flexibility with the sit and reach test and body composition with the body mass index (BMI).
Measure height and weight and then log into http://www.nhlbisupport.com/bmi/ to calculate BMI. Those with a BMI under 18.5 are underweight; those between 18.5 and 24.9 are normal weight; those between 25 and 29.9 are overweight; those between 30 and 39.9 are obese; and those greater than 40 are extremely obese.
