Extra Virgin Olive Oil Producer Bellucci Premium Comments on New Studies That Show How Olive Oil Can Help Decrease Colorectal Cancer
Bohemia, NY (PRWEB) July 30, 2013 -- Bellucci Premium, an organic olive oil producer, makes a statement following an article that details a study performed by researchers at Oxford University. The research shows evidence that olive oil helps decrease the risk of developing colorectal cancer.
According to a July 18th article published by News Fix titled “Diet and colorectal cancer, is dietary olive oil protective?” a diet that contains a rich amount of olive oil is associated with a lower risk for certain types of cancer.
The study researched the dietary factors and cancer rates throughout 28 countries. The International Olive Oil Council provided the information needed about olive oil consumption in those countries. According to the article, the results concluded that “76% of the intercountry variation in colorectal cancer incidence rates was associated with the following factors: Meat and fish consumption combined were associated with increased colorectal cancer incidence. Olive oil consumption was associated with decreased colorectal cancer incidence.”
The article also detailed the hypothesis created by these researchers as to why meat consumption would lead to a higher risk of colorectal cancer, and why olive oil consumption would decrease the risk. Meat intake increases the amount of bile acids that cause changes in an individual’s bowel lining. Olive oil does the opposite.
Natalie Sexenian, marketing manager for Bellucci Premium, is excited about these new developments on the benefits of olive oil. “Each new study released on the benefits of olive oil gives us more incentive to keep producing superior quality extra virgin olive oil,” she says. “Not only does olive oil taste great, but it can be used in numerous recipes and is rapidly becoming a key ingredient in many diets because of its nutritional benefits.”
Bellucci offers three different types of oil, including an organic option, with a mild peppery flavor and fruity undertones that will satisfy any palate. Bellucci Premium Toscano extra virgin olive oil uses olives that are grown on the beautiful landscapes of Tuscany, and maintained by 3rd and 4th generation farmers. The third type of oil Bellucci produces is the finest 100% Italian extra virgin olive oil, grown in many different regions of Italy.
