FAA 14 CFR 139 Guidelines Integrated in Web-App to Provide Automated Safety Self-Inspections of Airfields

What is iiCollectorTM Web-App?
The iiCollectorTM web-app was originally developed in 2012 by ProjectGrid.com®, a technology asset management firm. Most recently, the web-app has been enhanced to comply with the FAA 14 CFR 139 requirements of AC: 150/5200-37, 150/5200-18C and 150/5300-18C.
As part of this new development, the iiCollectorTM web-app can be used to track hazards, issue maintenance work orders, provide inspection reports, issue NOTAMs and perform other daily airport tasks while ensuring compliance with FAA CFR 139. Airport personnel can perform these activities at their fingertips on a mobile device such as a smartphone or tablet.
How do you use it?
This web-app can turn any tablet or smart phone into a mobile data collector to supplement self-safety inspections which typically use traditional paper forms. Airport staff must use a GPS and Web-enabled mobile device to conduct daily inspections, record and rate assets in the airfield; as well as to photograph, color code, geo-tagged and present all assets on airport map.
When the data is collected, it is archived and stored in a secure ProjectGrid.com® electronic database. As work orders are placed, the responsible parties are notified automatically via email.
These work orders are logged and their maintenance records are also stored in the database. The iiCollector™ web-app can also be used to perform a “self-audit” of specified required maintenance.
All airfield data collected can be integrated into other platforms including, GIS platforms, AGIS, SMS, and APMS as needed for planning and design requirements.
iiCollectorTM is on the move…
The Gordon K. Bush Airport at Ohio University was the first airport to test the iiCollector™ web-app in compliance with the FAA 139’s requirements. Results were presented at the Ohio Aviation Association’s (OAA) 2015 Annual Conference, as well as the Purdue Road School Transportation Conference in 2016.
Since then, regional airports throughout the nation have been using iiCollectorTM for their daily self-inspection. Airfield managers and directors have applauded the capabilities of this new technology that can simplify information gathering, sorting and other airport operational uses.
