Fabricating.com Named Finalist in NYC's Prestigious H.E.L.M. Award
New York, NY (PRWEB) November 27, 2013 -- Fabricating.com, the developer of an online marketplace created exclusively for American custom manufacturing, was named one of 20 finalists in the Take the H.E.L.M. competition.
In its second iteration, Take the H.E.L.M.: Hire + Expand in Lower Manhattan, is designed to attract the best and brightest to the area by encouraging innovative companies to open or expand office space in Lower Manhattan. The competition seeks to relocate startups, as well as creative and technology companies from around the world, across the country and throughout New York City, to Lower Manhattan in order to amplify growth and diversify the area’s economy.
Of the more than 300 applicants, Fabricating.com was selected to be part of a prestigious group of 20 finalists, joining the ranks of Uber, the San Francisco-based startup revolutionizing transportation and logistics through their car-for-hire app, and WeWork, the aggressively expanding co-working giant. Fabricating.com, Uber, WeWork, StartUp Institute, and the additional finalists, were each awarded $10,000 in prize money from Take the Helm as they advanced to Round 3.
On November 21, 2013, the selection committee, chaired by Arthur Levitt, the former Chairman of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, selected five winners to receive $250,000 to be applied towards acquiring new office space. Fabricating.com competed in the "Domestic” category alongside fellow U.S.-based technology startups: Startup Institute, 4.0 Schools, Dinner Lab, and Vidcaster.
“Fabricating.com was proud to be among the elite talent pool of creatives and technologists in the Take the Helm contest. We’d like to congratulate the Take the H.E.L.M 2.0. winners: SiSense, Startup Institute, Hollwich Kushner, and Sumall. Having spent time with each these business during the two day selection process, we’re confident they'll serve as excellent catalysts for the area’s ongoing transformation,” said Frank Russo, Fabricating.com’s CEO.
