Fairfield Theatre Company Closes Out 2013 with Two Amazing Acts
Fairfield, CT (PRWEB) December 23, 2013 -- Fairfield Theatre Company is saying good bye to 2013 and thanking its patrons with two nights of non stop dance music featuring, Mystic Bowie and Kung Fu & Friends.
Having held over 60 sold-out performances combined this year at StageOne, The Klein Auditorium in Bridgeport, and at The Norwalk Concert Hall, FTC looks back on a year which saw the creation of a new gallery bar, and the most successful fundraising event to date; Encore, which raised $156,000 dollars for the nonprofit organization.
At 7:30 p.m. on Dec. 30, FTC welcomes back local reggae icon Mystic Bowie for a pre-New Year’s celebration at StageOne. Having kept the art of music alive by entertaining audiences from New York to Japan with his vibrant musical showmanship and high-energy performances, Mystic Bowie’s humble beginnings in Jamaica have blossomed and cultivated him into one of reggae’s hardest-working independent artists. Often compared to musical legends Jimmy Cliff, Lucky Dube, and Toots Hibbert of Toots and the Maytals; Mystic’s career to date is an impressive musical journey. In 2009 alone he averaged 217 performances, which included headliner appearances at the Tribal Funk Fest (BC, Canada), the New Haven Arts and Ideas Festival (CT, USA), SoNo Arts Festival and the MIMA Music Festival (Brazil). His independently-released fourth studio album “Sweet Jamaica,” featured the hit single “Nevah Kiss & Tell” that was nominated for an award by the Okanagan International Film Fest in Canada. This past year, Mystic has performed with a variety of funk and rock units including the B-52s, Trey Anastasio (Phish), Widespread Panic and the Tom Tom Club. Mystic continues to entertain audiences, a testament to his drive to bridge the gap between genres.
And FTC says goodbye to 2013 and hello to 2014 when they welcome back jamband, funk, rock fusion super group, Kung Fu, to StageOne on New Year's Eve. Through discipline, practice and study, Kung Fu have sought excellence in the art of improvised dance music, schooled by the masters: The Headhunters, Weather Report, Mahavishnu Orchestra and Frank Zappa. This quintet of masterfully-seasoned musicians features guitar wizard Tim Palmieri (breakfast), “The Animal” Adirian Tramantano (Breakfast) on drums, Rob Somervile on sax, and Chris DeAngelis on bass. This super group blends electro-jazz-funk with an EDM-informed danceability at the highest level of skill and inspiration that will have people dancing the final minutes of 2013 into a new year with captivating, explosive, jaw-dropping and musically mesmerizing funk. Audiences should prepare themselves for an overwhelming, one-two punch of funk that will rain down upon those in attendance.
So come join Fairfield Theatre Company and say goodbye to 2013 these two amazing performances that will rock out the old and bring the new.
