Portland, OR (PRWEB) October 27, 2016 -- Chip Drop is a new app that helps gardeners get free mulch delivered to their house from arborists and tree companies who are working in their neighborhood.
After 2 years of hauling brush for a tree company, local Portlander Bryan Kappa decided to start Chip Drop to make it easier for gardeners to get wood chips from arborists.
“Before Chip Drop, you had to call every tree company in your city if you wanted a free pile of wood chips delivered to your home,” explains Bryan. “As an arborist, you either had to pay to empty your truck at the dump, drive long distances to find a free dump spot, or both.”
Now, with Chip Drop, arborists in the field can quickly look at a map on their phone to find dump spots for their chips. By filling out a simple form at http://www.chipdrop.in, gardeners can add their home to the same map, which all tree companies in their city can see.
By using Chip Drop, you help the environment by:
Keeping wood waste out of landfills
Reducing the amount of miles arborists have to drive to dump their trucks
Using local tree mulch as opposed to store-bought mulch
Conserving water in your garden and creating drought-tolerant landscapes
Chip Drop has been operating since January 2014, and has facilitated over 10,000 drops in 25 cities across the US and Canada.
