Bethesda, MD (PRWEB) August 27, 2017 -- Farm Animal Rights Movement (FARM) has an ongoing petition on Change.org that has gathered nearly 29,000 signatures urging Pizza Hut to offer vegan cheese on their pizzas. This past Mother’s Day, May 14th, hundreds of animal rights activists across the country descended on local Pizza Hut chains to demand that Pizza Hut offer a plant-based cheese option.
The number of vegans is constantly growing and Pizza Hut has an opportunity to be at the forefront of vegan fast-food options. Offering a dairy-free cheese is ideal, not only for people who don’t eat animal products for ethical reasons but for those who may have food allergies as well. In fact, approximately 65 percent of the human population is lactose-intolerant. That is a lot of potential customers.
Pizza Hut already has some great plant-based options, including wedges, cinnamon sticks (with icing!), and vegan pizza dough, but Pizza Hut needs to take it one step further and offer a dairy-free cheese option. If they can deliver a pizza to space, surely they can deliver a pizza to vegans.
Many people won’t eat animal-based foods because of the inherent cruelty on factory farms, the devastating impact animal agriculture has on the environment, and for health reasons. People demand dairy-free cheese for many reasons, including widespread availability, affordability, how well it melts, and especially because it tastes delicious.
“As the popularity of plant-based cheese continues to grow, consumers are demanding options that don’t come with a side of cruelty” said FARM Grassroots Activation Manager Hayden Hamilton Hall. “Plus, cheese that is made from plants has no saturated fat or cholesterol, so it is way better for our health!”
Pizza Hut needs to follow the lead of successful pizza companies who are seeing increased sales from vegan consumers, including Pizza Pizza, PizzaRev, MOD, ZPizza, Pieology, California Pizza Kitchen and more. Vegan is the future! Dominos in Israel is now offering vegan pizza.
Since 1974, Farm Animal Rights Movement (FARM) has promoted and believes in the inherent worth of all animals, preventing animal cruelty, protecting the environment, and safeguarding public health. For more information, visit DemandDairyFree.com or FARMUSA.org
