Dallas, Texas (PRWEB) August 28, 2013 -- idcloak launches a Fast Proxy Server List for internet users wishing to browse sites without being observed by government surveillance monitors. Users simply configure a browser to connect to a medium or high anonymity proxy in the list (preferably based in an alternative country). From that point on, their ISP and any intermediary taps will only see encrypted data pass between the user’s computer and the proxy server, while the out-traffic from the proxy will be stripped of the user’s IP address.
This protection is enhanced if the user takes additional precautions not to divulge their identity in other ways, such as through cookies, ETags and browser fingerprints.
idcloak’s privacy expert, Robin Welles, explains, “First of all, the user should only ever connect to the proxy through a new, clean browser: one they did not use before. We recommend Opera. If they then activate Private Browsing, set up an AdBlock Plus extension and deactivate Javascript, it will be very difficult for their proxy activity to be associated back to them. Then, when using the proxy, he or she must only stay away from login sites or from posting any content that might disclose who or where they are.”
Due to the high transfer rates of the proxies on the list, Welles says web browsing speeds will suffer hardly at all, “The user should notice hardly any latency and have no problem even with bandwidth-heavy tasks like streaming video. The only potential pitfalls are if public proxies do go down or become congested over time. Then the user just needs to choose another proxy IP address from the list.”
The proxy list updates continuously, with the fastest proxies of almost 2000 in the idcloak database shown first. “The list’s filter and sort settings save the user time when switching to a new proxy. You instantly know which proxies are the quickest.”
One issue that follows public proxy use, however, is the anonymity of the proxy administrators. “We have no practical way of vetting the owners of the proxy. We therefore recommend that users do not carry out highly private or sensitive activity through the proxies.”
The idcloak secure VPN, to be released in September 2013, is designed to offer peace of mind of mind to the privacy-conscious: running entirely on in-house servers and delivering military-grade security and privacy protection.
