When Hurricane Maria recently hit Puerto Rico – right on the heels of Hurricane Irma -- the level of destruction was considered apocalyptic. Once Fat Joe learned that the residents of Puerto Rico were not receiving essential supplies, including food and water, he focused all of his energy on personally placing such life-sustaining supplies into the hands of the suffering residents of Puerto Rico. For background purposes, Fat Joe was raised by parents of Puerto Rican and Cuban descent so this crisis really hits home for him.

In response, Fat Joe partnered with New York Governor Andrew Cuomo, superstar Jay-Z, radio personality and actress Angie Martinez and other influential friends to create and lead a powerful relief effort. Together, they successfully raised 2 million pounds of vital supplies for the people of Puerto Rico that filled five planes. The struggle, however, continues for the people of Puerto Rico. With about 80 percent of those living on the island of Puerto Rico still without power, many residents have been told that it could take until January 2018 for power to be restored.
