Feature Film Production in 4K HD: A Living Arts College First
Raleigh, NC (PRWEB) December 14, 2013 -- Living Arts College Creative Director Roger Klietz and the Filmmaking program at Living Arts College are just wrapping up casting and preproduction for the College's first full length feature film, The Healer.
Professor Michael Pearce's Production Studio Class sent out casting notices up and down the East Coast, and had a resounding 358 responses. Principal roles were considered in this early phase of the casting process. Out of those potential actors, Mr. Pearce's class organized the responders by who would be the best to call in for each of the eight principal roles.
The students have auditioned over fifty professional actors, from all over the Southeast including Kentucky, Georgia, and Virginia. These potential actors have been featured on such television programs as Under The Dome, Revolution, Eastbound and Down, Sleepy Hollow, and Homeland. Final decisions on actors and talent were made the week of Thanksgiving, in preparation for the College's December and January shooting schedule.

The Audio Production & Design program is also participating in the production of The Healer. The program is providing several students to assist and run the recording of the location audio. To date Professor Craig Brandwynne and his students have been working with the Filmmaking program as to the script layout, shooting dates and scene breakdowns.
The students review the scenes that are going to be shot and plan the recording for each. The equipment needed and challenges faced are based on the location of each scene. Once this is assessed, the students will have a solid idea of what to watch out for to help expedite the workflow. This process is done for each and every scene.

Creative Director Roger Klietz has revolutionized the manner in which production is done at the College. This involves a production process with five main phases. The "Pre-Production" is the most time consuming and tedious part of this production process for Audio students. So far several ambient scenes have been shot; Outdoors, natural sounds with just a small bit of dialog. Ramp up to heavy dialog happens in the next few weeks. Stay tuned.
