FEI and Mandt Collaborate at Alliance National Conference
Milwaukee, Wisconsin (PRWEB) October 17, 2016 -- FEI Behavioral Health, a social enterprise with a 35-year history and a leader in workforce resilience from crisis management to EAP, will be joined by its workplace violence prevention partner, The Mandt System® at FEI parent organization, the Alliance for Strong Families and Communities (Alliance) 2016 National Conference.
The 2016 Alliance National Conference runs Oct. 19-21 in Los Angeles. FEI and Mandt have collaborated to present a deep dive session, “Reducing Restrictive Practices with the Mandt System.” Mandt CEO, Simon Kemp will be presenting the session on Oct. 20 2016, at 8:30 a.m. PST.
This session will provide human serving agencies with practical applications for reducing restraint, seclusion and other restrictive practices from their treatment approach models. By referencing current research and emerging international guidance, attendees will learn factors that predict the use of restrictive practices and gain insight into their organization’s workplace position on the restrictive practice continuum. The session also will introduce strategies for transitioning to restraint-free services and a working restraint reduction plan based on David Allen’s Nine Stage Process.
In addition to speaking and exhibiting at the conference, FEI and Mandt also will be introducing new revenue generating opportunities for Alliance members using or converting to Mandt. FEI has developed “Training Centers of Excellence,” a toolkit with a wealth of support for Alliance organizations interested in facilitating training within their communities and networks.
“’Training Centers of Excellence’ gives organizations the tools to create an entire community of care for the individuals their agencies serve,” explains Ted Uczen, FEI President and CEO. “We believe this unique partnership can help organizations take a leadership role within their community to ensure there is consistency in intervention and treatment, giving those in need the best chance for success.”
Not only is Mandt a cost-effective solution to behavioral intervention, its focus on building healthy relationships and acknowledgement of the impact of childhood trauma has seen a 70 percent reduction in the use of restraints and seclusion among human serving agencies.

Kemp has been with The Mandt System for more than five years and has spent 15 plus years in the field of reducing workplace violence. He has a professional background in applied psychology and applied behavior analysis and has worked as a consultant psychologist for The National Autistic Society and The National Deafblind and Rubella Association in the UK for approximately 10 years. Kemp continues to undertake consulting work for BILD (The British Institute of Learning Disability) and is a Senior Assessor on their Accreditation Scheme.
