Milwaukee, WIs. (PRWEB) October 08, 2015 -- FEI Behavioral Health, a social enterprise with a 35-year history and a leader in workforce resilience from EAP to crisis management, will present a panel session among nonprofit leaders at the 2015 Alliance for Strong Families and Communities National Conference in St. Louis, Oct. 14-16, 2015.
FEI’s Senior Director Terri Howard will present as part of a collaborative session “Transitioning to a Trauma-Informed Approach to Violence Prevention,” Oct. 14, 2:30 p.m. CST. Through a panel discussion with executives from fellow Alliance member organizations, the workshop will discuss how human-serving agencies can incorporate a trauma-informed approach to their organization’s overall violence prevention strategy.
Howard will present alongside Matt Obert, vice president of operations at Chaddock; Brian Carroll, president and CEO at Secret Harbor; and Tim Grove, chief clinical officer at SaintA. The panelists will discuss information about trauma-informed care and the benefits of a trauma-informed approach to violence prevention. The panelists also will share their unique experiences in transitioning to a trauma-informed program and share specific instructions to their peers on how to adopt a violence prevention program that fully incorporates trauma-informed care.
Howard is responsible for working with FEI corporate clients to ensure they are prepared for, can respond to and recover from a crisis incident. She also coordinates the people support and psychological first aid services for those impacted by crises, and she is responsible for developing drills and exercises aimed at testing current plans and procedures. Over the years, Howard has contributed to several international standards and guidelines on crisis management and workplace violence prevention, including ASIS, a global community of more than 38,000 security practitioners, and the FBI.
In addition to the presentation, FEI will be exhibiting at the conference and sponsoring a study tour. FEI President and CEO, Ted Uczen will facilitate the tour, “Energizing the Entrepreneurial Spirit to Improve the St. Louis Community,” Oct. 15, 2:45 p.m. CST. This study tour highlights how nonprofits can create enterprises that improve the community, the lives of individual clients, and the nonprofits themselves. The tour focuses on three winners of the YouthBridge Social Enterprise & Innovation Competition (SEIC) including REFRESH, Angel Baked Cookies, and Circus Harmony.
