FEI to Present at Social Enterprise Alliance 2015 Summit
Milwaukee, Wis (PRWEB) September 16, 2015 -- FEI Behavioral Health, a social enterprise with a 35-year history and a leader in workforce resilience from EAP to crisis management, will present a workshop at this week’s Social Enterprise Alliance (SEA) 2015 Summit.
The 2015 Summit is Sept. 16-18 in Denver, Colorado. FEI’s President and CEO Ted Uczen will present as part of a breakthrough session, “Innovate. Reinvent. Grow. Repeat.” on Sept. 18 at 8:30 a.m. MDT. This interactive, case study style workshop will create an invigorating dialog about the importance of frequent reinvention as the key to sustaining a successful social enterprise over time.
Uczen will present alongside a panel of practitioners including Rebecca Saltman, founder of A Foot in the Door Productions; Buddy Teaster, CEO of Soles4Souls; and Kara Penn, owner and principal consultant at Mission Spark. Based on their social enterprise business experiences, panelists will share lessons learned including how their industry/organization has changed, the specific challenges they faced in reinventing their organization, and how they were able to adapt to and overcome these changes.
Since 1998, the SEA national conference has been convening the social enterprise movement and fostering learning, connections, and collaborations that have helped catalyze the growth and success of thousands of social enterprises across the US and beyond.
One of the nation’s most successful examples of this model is the 35 year social enterprise partnership between FEI and its parent organization, the Alliance for Strong Families and Communities. Since the beginning of the social enterprise structure in 1979, FEI has provided more than $30 million to support the Alliance, its members, and the communities they serve each and every day.
FEI joined the SEA as a member in 2014 in an effort to connect with other social enterprise-minded organizations and has since helped to secure the formation of the provisional Wisconsin SEA chapter.
“There is an urgency in the nonprofit sector now more than ever to find and leverage every possible synergy and resource through diversified funding streams and non-traditional relationships,” said Uczen. “We hope that by sharing our story and our model, others can learn how to adapt and strengthen their organizations.”
As president and CEO of FEI Behavioral Health, Uczen directs all strategic aspects of the business and directly oversees all sales and marketing activities of the organization. FEI is a for-profit organization owned by the non-profit corporation, the Alliance for Strong Families and Communities. As such, Uczen holds a key management position on the executive leadership committee of the Alliance, and works directly with the other non-profit entities of the Alliance as well as hundreds of non-profit social agencies. He regularly supports these non-profit groups by helping define strategic sales and marketing opportunities that help grow revenue from non-traditional sources.
