FEI to Present Mandt Training Sessions across the Country
Milwaukee, Wis. (PRWEB) March 12, 2015 -- FEI Behavioral Health, a social enterprise with a 35-year history in crisis prevention, has expanded its Workforce Resilience offerings with the Mandt System to present publicly-available workplace safety training in nine cities across the nation. The training programs focus on frontline service practitioners encountering individuals who may exhibit at-risk behavior.
Since 1975, Mandt has been the leading provider of relationship-based crisis interaction training programs to prevent workplace and relational violence — an especially important skillset for organizations in education, healthcare, retail and other industries where confrontations may occur.
The system provides tools to help staff who may be involved in physical altercations manage themselves, recognize the early warning signs of potentially violent behavior, and intervene proactively through de-escalation techniques and positive behavior supports. Trauma Informed Services also is integrated into the classes. This provides a sub-clinical approach to give direct support to caregivers, family members, administrators and others, and helps create a trauma-informed culture.

During the training, participants learn a series of gradual and graded alternatives for de-escalating and supporting people, using a combination of interpersonal communication skills and physical interaction techniques designed to reduce injury to all participants in an encounter.

We believe this training is a first-step toward that.”
FEI relies on its in-house certified trainers to go on the road, allowing individuals across multiple organizations and industries to receive training right in their region.
“Allowing organizations to receive this training, basically in their own backyard, offers convenience to the fact they don’t have to send their people across country or spend a large amount of money to bring a trainer in-house,” said Uczen.
Training like this has been shown to reduce worker’s compensation claims and litigation costs related to acts of workplace violence. The Mandt program reduces the frequency, intensity and duration of physical incidents, as well as the need for them. For example, confrontations in schools have escalated in the last several years, yet schools in Texas that use Mandt achieved a restraint rate that was 84 percent lower than the statewide average and generated a savings for the schools.
