(PRWEB) July 16, 2015 -- Felix & Paul Studios today announced that it has signed a multi-project, multi-experience virtual reality production deal with Oculus in the largest live-action VR deal to date.
As part of the deal, Felix & Paul Studios will be producing a slate of VR experiences distributed via the Oculus platform on the Oculus Rift, launching in Q1 2016, and the Samsung Gear VR for the Galaxy S6, available today online and at select Best Buy stores. The experiences will be written, directed, and produced (including all aspects of both physical production and post-production) by Felix & Paul Studios.
“Oculus is incredibly excited by the artistry and entertainment made possible by the rapidly expanding world of 3D 360 VR moviemaking. Signing a multi-project deal with Felix & Paul Studios, a fantastically talented team at the forefront of both the artistic and technical aspects of this nascent art form, allows Oculus to deliver a variety of experiences to its Gear VR and Rift users at launch and thereafter. It takes but a moment inside one of Felix & Paul's films, to understand that these are experiences like no other,” said Jason Rubin, Head of Studios at Oculus.
“We believe in virtual reality’s profound potential as an art form and storytelling medium,” said Felix Lajeunesse, co-founder of Felix & Paul Studios. “Our studio’s objective is to create content of the highest quality – both artistically and technologically – and to expand the boundaries of what can be expressed through the medium. For VR to grow as an art form, creative freedom and taking risks are a necessity. Each project born out of our partnership with Oculus will be an occasion to explore VR’s unprecedented potential to immerse viewers in human-driven experiences in the fields of fiction and non-fiction storytelling as well as music and the performing arts.”
Lajeunesse and Paul Raphaël have created and directed immersive cinematic experiences for years, developing a unique vision and fine craft for fusing storytelling and a viewer's immersion into a 3D world. The directors have embraced VR as the next medium in storytelling, and have written and directed a significant body of medium-defining live-action virtual reality experiences. They have produced both original content developed by Felix & Paul Studios and in collaboration with industry leaders (artists, Hollywood studios, high profile institutions). Verve represents Felix and Paul Studios on entertainment-related VR projects.
The VR experiences being produced for distribution on the Oculus platform leverage Felix & Paul Studios’ proprietary 3D VR system, which utilizes the company’s own stereoscopic 360° camera, sound capture, and end-to-end VR postproduction software suite.
