Feminine Rejuvenation: Cosmetic Surgeon Dr. Richard Buckley Comments on New Study Looking at Why Women Want It; Why Women Do it
Milford, PA (PRWEB) December 30, 2016 -- Patient demand for surgical labiaplasty, a procedure in which surgeons remove excess tissue from the labia to address cosmetic aging or physical concerns, is soaring in popularity. A new study published in the scientific and peer-reviewed Aesthetic Surgery Journal looks into what motivates women to want labiaplasty, as well as what they expect from the procedure. Researchers conducted one-on-one interviews with 14 patients who had labiaplasty, asking them why they had it and how the procedure impacted their lives.
The themes that emerged from the research included drivers, such as media influence and women’s recollections of negative sexual comments from before the surgery. Those comments contributed to women’s concerns about how their vaginal area looked. Some of the women also mentioned physical discomfort as their motivation to have the procedure.
The findings of this study mirrored satisfaction with the procedure that patients are sharing on RealSelf.
