fieldstudy's First Anniversary
Mountain View, CA (PRWEB) June 17, 2014 -- Fieldstudy was founded by CEO Kabir Sehgal, recent alum of University of California, Santa Cruz. Sehgal, currently working at Google as a Search Quality Analyst, initially created the site as a way to help out his fellow peers and friends. It quickly grew into a resource for the whole school, as well as for the entire UC college network. Today, fieldstudy's Facebook page has over 12,000 likes, while its Twitter and Instagram page has over 1,200 followers.
As stated in the mission statement on its website, fieldstudy aims to "help students transition from college to career." The interesting part, however, is how. Fieldstudy offers a plethora of services, both free and moderately priced, to "provide students with the building blocks for a successful job search." These include resume review services, university workshops, and career and college advice. The first two are distributed primarily by Sehgal himself, while the last is a collective effort by the small but astute fieldstudy team. You can read about their backgrounds on the website.
The name "fieldstudy" is indicative of the site's purpose: helping students learn how to professionally navigate in their field of choice. The site contains an aggregation of knowledge from what Sehgal and his team have learned through their many cumulative internships, jobs, and entrepreneurial endeavors. Many of the articles focus on the advantages of social media in a new grad’s job hunt. In addition to providing content, Sehgal has also personally given professional workshops at UCSC and UCLA on behalf of fieldstudy, as well as reviewed hundreds of resumes. As stated earlier, these are now services formally offered on the website.
So what's in store next? There are many great plans for fieldstudy's future. These include a potential new book drawing from Sehgal’s own invaluable career experience, as well as a job board of exclusive opportunities available only to registered users of the site. The site is going in a direction that will make fieldstudy a resource for colleges all over the nation. Be sure to sign up today, on the site, to be an early supporter of this great startup!
