Fifth Annual "Headstands for Hunger" Yoga Event to be Held at Asbury Park Boardwalk's Convention Hall in New Jersey
Asbury Park, New Jersey (PRWEB) October 11, 2017 -- On Saturday, November 4, 2017, “Headstands for Hunger” — an annual yoga-based community event, feeding hungry people and homeless animals in Monmouth County — will host its Fifth Annual Headstands For Hunger event benefitting the fight against hunger, at the iconic Convention Hall on the Asbury Park boardwalk.
This year’s Headstands For Hunger event welcomes all people and pets and will include a variety of vendors, live music, henna art, photo booth and a 90 minute ‘all levels welcome’ yoga session. The event will take place at Asbury Park’s Convention Hall Building located at 1300 Ocean Avenue from 9:00am until 12:00pm. Doors will open at 9:00am, and yoga practice is scheduled to begin promptly at 9:30am until 11:00am. Participants are encouraged to bring $10 and ten pounds of non-perishable food items for people and pets as a suggested donation.
Founded and developed by Celebrity Yoga Instructor and Expert, Vanessa Van Noy, each year, “Headstands for Hunger” draws in hundreds of participants and yoga instructors who donate thousands of pounds in food toward the cause, while enjoying a day filled with yoga, fun and learning—all in the name of hunger relief. In addition to supportive sponsorships, local yoga teachers and photographers also donate their time and talent to the event every year.
“The concept is powerfully simple: ‘flow to feed,’” says Van Noy. “Many times yoga teachers ask you to dedicate your practice to something or someone as a gift, or offering of love and compassion. Imagine hundreds of yoga mats, side by side, each with someone offering their practice in support of others all while collectively amassing over 3,000 pounds in food donations for people and pets. The principles of yoga are meant to be practiced off the mat.”
To date, Headstands For Hunger has donated nearly 10,000 pounds of food to Fulfill NJ and the MCSPA to feed humans and animals in need, with the number of participants and donations growing rapidly each year.
