FileTrail Releases Cloud Solution for Microsoft Azure
San Jose, CA (PRWEB) October 29, 2013 -- FileTrail, the leader in Information Governance, today announced the release of FileTrail for Azure. Organizations can now utilize Microsoft Azure to manage physical and electronic records. Additionally, tools for physical records deliver automatic classification, search, request, compliance, and location tracking with bar code and RFID technologies.
Azure is a cloud platform, created by Microsoft, which enables companies to quickly build, deploy and manage applications through a global network of Microsoft-managed datacenters. It supports a large variety of programming languages, tools, and frameworks. Furthermore, data is automatically replicated to support failover and disaster recovery.
FileTrail for Azure provides an integrated view of physical and electronic documents to end users, while reducing capital costs and is ideal for organizations that do not want to add server infrastructure, or whose IT staff are already stretched to capacity.
The choice of the Azure platform was a natural one because of its size and growth. Azure holds about 20% of the cloud platform marketplace, according to Bloomberg. Steven Martin, Azure’s General Manager, wrote a blog on Microsoft’s website earlier this year claiming that the user base had increased to 250,000 customers with a growth rate of 1000 new customers per day, and more than half of the fortune 500 companies were using Azure to some extent.
Global presence was another factor in offering an Azure solution. FileTrail has offered a cloud solution since 2001, but only on datacenters based in the US. In contrast, Azure has a global network of data centers and strictly controls the location of Customer Data to comply with local Data Protection and Safe Harbor laws.
"The FileTrail Cloud has been well-received by clients in the US over the past decade," said Darrell Mervau, President of FileTrail. "The ability to offer our Cloud solutions to overseas markets has been restricted by local data regulations, but the presence of Azure solves this problem."
FileTrail for Azure allows clients to deploy solutions quickly with less capital expenditure. Clients with their own Azure Virtual Machines can license and implement a FileTrail solution alongside their other Azure solutions, avoiding the cost of technology infrastructure. Alternatively, clients can utilize FileTrail system on FileTrail’s Azure VM, replacing licensing, support and labor costs with a low monthly fee.
FileTrail will present FileTrail for Azure at the ARMA International Conference in Las Vegas, NV on October 29th, 2013.
