Final Days to Get Early Bird Savings on Balboa Park’s Maker Faire: Deepest Discounts End August 31
San Diego, CA (PRWEB) August 29, 2017 -- Just two days remain to get the biggest savings on Maker Faire San Diego tickets. The October 7-8 event is part high-tech science fair, part county fair, part something entirely new. Balboa Park hosts this celebration of technology, arts, crafts, science, and the Do-It-Yourself mindset for innovative, creative people who like to tinker and love to create, and also for those curious minds who want to see and get hands-on with new and innovative things coming just around the corner.
This multi-museum event showcases innovation in San Diego. To maximize the experience, event-goers are strongly encouraged to “complete the circuit.” Over 250 local and regional makers display their creations at Balboa Park—mostly inside participating museums. Each circuit will hold a different array of makers and activities. Some of the can’t-miss makers for 2017 include:
- Robot Resurrection returns!— A towering 30-foot tall, fire-breathing, articulating sculpture made from 90% recycled materials and reclaimed airplane parts.
- Audiobody— A synthesis of music, comedy, and technology: AudioBody’s performance is an electronic journey into an unknown realm of seriously spectacular entertainment.
- The Electric Giraffe Project— This fan-favorite is back! The giraffe will always be a work in progress, adding and fixing and improving. This creation has traveled from the desert of Burning Man to the White House to meet President Obama!
- Light Painting Stick— An RGB LED light stick that allows photographers to take their long exposure work to the next level by creating abstract and photo-realistic images.
- San Diego Sabers— The premiere lightsaber combat group in the San Diego area, providing lightsaber combat demos as well as discussing custom DIY lightsaber builds!
- Evolution RV-Tiny Home on Wheels— Learn how to make a customized RV / Tiny Home on Wheels that can be transported on a standard trailer. It features sleeping space for four, kitchen, living and dining spaces. Live demonstrations on such techniques as how to create interior elements such as the loft ladder.

The first Maker Faire launched in May 2006 in the San Francisco Bay Area and was quickly followed by Faires in Austin, Detroit and New York City, as well as others around the world. Technology has lowered the barriers to becoming a Maker and this has launched the Maker Movement, which fuels Maker Faire. Maker Faire was designed to be forward-looking, showcasing Makers who are exploring new forms and new technologies.
