Financial E-Letter Readers Score Better on FINRA Test
Austin, TX (PRWEB) July 30, 2013 -- Readers of Gary D. Halbert's weekly Forecasts & Trends E-Letter far outscored the general public last month on a financial literacy test developed for the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA). Contrary to results seen by FINRA, Halbert’s readers scored high on basic financial literacy, as well as on additional questions developed for Forecasts & Trends subscribers.
The national average on the FINRA quiz was 57.6%, while Halbert’s readers scored an average of 94.8% on the same questions. Including the additional questions added by Halbert, his readership scored 84% overall, or an average of 10 of 12 questions answered correctly.

“I have been following FINRA’s financial capability surveys for years and find it disturbing that their results are actually getting worse over time. Yet we see from an unscientific survey of my readers that those who seek out financial information through the Internet, newsletters and other resources fare far better, even when faced with additional questions. Comparing FINRA’s results to ours underscores the need for basic financial education in our schools.”
