Atlanta, GA (PRWEB) September 30, 2015 -- FinancialJobsWeb.com, the leading employment website for financial careers, reports a decrease of 0.05 percent in the number of financial job postings to its site for the month of August 2015 compared to the previous month.
August’s slight decrease in the number of job postings marks a drop from the 2.7% increase reported for July 2015.
The employment website’s decrease in job postings for the month of August aligns with the 9% decrease in the number of financial jobs gained in August as reported by the U.S Bureau of Labor Statistics on Friday, September 4, 2015.
The Economic Situation report revealed a gain of 19,000 jobs within the financial activities supersector for the month of August, with 12,00 jobs occurring in the finance and insurance sector and 7,800 jobs occurring within the real estate, rental and leasing sector. The supersector now sits at 8,167,000 jobs with an unemployment rate of 2.5%, a decrease of 1% reported in August 2014. Over the past 12 months, the supersector has added 170,000 jobs, with almost half of the reported job gains occurring in the insurance carriers and related activities subsector.
Within the finance and insurance sector, credit intermediation and related activities added 5,500 jobs, an increase of 0.21% over July 2015. The securities, commodity contracts, investments, and funds and trusts sector added the second largest number of jobs, with 4,500 jobs gained for the month of August. Insurance carriers and related activities, typically the highest growing subsector, only grew by 2,300 jobs last month.
Within real estate, rental and leasing sector, real estate gained 8,000 jobs while the rental and leasing services subsector only gained 100 jobs. Lessors of nonfinancial intangible assets lost 300 jobs.
Across all industries, total nonfarm payroll employment increased by 173,000 jobs in August, while the unemployment rate declined by 0.2 percentage points to 5.1 percent. Over the last 12 months, employment growth has averaged 247,000 jobs per month. Job gains occurred in health care and social assistance, and in financial activities. Employment in manufacturing and mining declined.
