FinancialJobsWeb.com Sees 4.7% Increase In Job Postings in May 2015
Atlanta, Georgia (PRWEB) June 29, 2015 -- FinancialJobsWeb.com, the leading employment website for financial careers, reports an increase of 4.7% in the number of financial job postings to its site for the month of May 2015 compared to the previous month.
The employment website’s increase in job postings aligns with the 0.16% increase in the number of financial jobs reported by the U.S Bureau of Labor Statistics on Friday, June 5, 2015.
The Economic Situation report revealed an increase of 13,000 jobs within the financial activities supersector for the month of May. The supersector now sits at 8,111,000 jobs with an unemployment rate of 2.3%, a significant decrease from the 4.8% reported in May 2014. Over the past 12 months, the supersector has added 160,000 jobs, with about half of the reported job gains occurring in the insurance carriers and related activities subsector.
Last month, insurance carriers and related activities added 6,000 jobs, an increase of 0.24% over April 2015. Similarly, credit intermediation and related activities added 5,700 jobs, an increase of 0.22% over the previous month. The remaining jobs were added within the securities, commodity contracts, investments, funds and trusts subsector (1,200 jobs), rental and leasing services (800 jobs), and lessors of non-financial intangible assets (200 jobs). Small losses were experienced within the real estate subsector (-800 jobs) and the monetary authorities - central bank subsector (-100 jobs).
Across all industries, the BLS reported that total nonfarm payroll employment increased by 280,000 in May, while the unemployment rate remained unchanged at 5.5 percent. Job gains occurred in professional and business services, leisure and hospitality, and health care. Mining employment continued to decline.
