Find Extended Holiday Shopping Hours and what's Open and Closed on Christmas with myHereGuide
(PRWEB) December 13, 2016 -- The last ten days before Christmas is holiday shopping crunchtime, with nearly 1 in 3 consumers waiting until the week of Christmas to do the majority of their holiday shopping.
Holiday shopping and browsing took off the first week of November, but according to the National Retail Foundation, up to 40% of the holiday season’s sales occur during the final 10 days before Christmas. Even as consumers increasingly use their phones to search for deals, nearly 3 in 4 shoppers say they are still planning to shop in brick-and-mortar stores.
Some shoppers are waiting until the last minute hoping that retailers drop prices further, analysts said. For shoppers that miss Free Shipping Day, scheduled for December 16th, the last 10 days before Christmas is also their final chance to shop in-person.
To accommodate these last minute consumers, many of the top retailers and malls have extended holiday hours. myHereGuide, a Silicon Valley-based startup with leading technology for connecting consumers with the most current information on retailers, makes it easy to take advantage of these extended hours.
Some holiday hours trends are listed here, but it is important to note that store hours, especially holiday season hours, vary widely from location to location within a given retailer. Shoppers can find hours for a particular location in their city on the Christmas Hours by City page.
Apple Store: Many stores will close an hour later (stores that open until 9pm will close at 10pm). To find holiday hours for Apple Store, shoppers can start on the Apple Locations and Hours page and navigate to their store.
Target: December 17 to 23: All stores open from 7 am to midnight
Toys R Us: For week of December 12, many stores will open until midnight from Monday to Thursday and until 2am Friday through Sunday.
JC Penney: For week of December 12, many stores will open until 11pm starting the 13th and until midnight from Friday through Sunday
Macy's: Many stores will be open until 10pm or 11pm the week of December 12 and until midnight the week of the 19th.
Shopping mall hours vary depending on the mall, with most malls closing between 9pm and 12am, and even later as Christmas approaches.
CHRISTMAS EVE AND CHRISTMAS
The Saturday before Christmas, known as Super Saturday, along with the Friday after Thanksgiving, is one of the busiest shopping days of the season. This year, Super Saturday is also on Christmas Eve.
For very last-minute shopping, almost all retailers are open on Christmas Eve, but expect most to close by 6 or 7pm.
Target: open at 7 am until 10 pm or 11 pm
Barnes & Noble: Many stores open at 8am or 9am and close at 6pm to 8pm.
Costco: 9am to 5pm
Sam's Club: 7am to 6pm
Trader Joe's: close at 6pm
Malls: Malls, like retailers, will be closing early on Christmas Eve, generally around 6pm. Check out the Christmas Mall Hours page for information on a particular mall.
Almost all retailers and malls are closed on Christmas Day, and most restaurants will also close on Christmas, including Chipotle, Chick-Fil-A, Olive Garden, and Cracker Barrel. But for consumers that like dining out for the holidays, more and more, restaurants are tending to be open on holidays. Expect some higher-quality restaurants to be open on Christmas.
In addition to Denny's and Waffle House, which are open 365 days a year, some of the restaurants that will be open (many with special hours) are:
Legal Sea Foods: open
Ruth's Chris Steak House: open
Joe's Crab Shack: open
Buca di Beppo: open Christmas lunch and dinner
IHOP: open
Others: For the most up-to-date restaurant hours, check out the the Christmas Store and Restaurant Hours page.
NEW YEAR'S EVE AND NEW YEAR'S DAY
For New Year's Eve and New Year's, unlike on Christmas Day, many more restaurants and stores will be open. Some of the notable closings on New Year's Day are:
Sam's Club
Costco
Family Dollar Store
Trader Joe's
Malls will generally be open as well, closing around 6. For New Year's and future holidays, shoppers can check out the holiday hours page.
