Higgs-Faretta’s memoir, “A Spark in the Darkness” tells the story of a happy life that suddenly grew very dark. After terminal illness took the life her child, the author woke up after a brain aneurysm left her partially paralyzed.
Higgs-Faretta’s book is not a “woe-is-me” tale, but the story of how one woman overcame struggles no one ever hopes to face.
“I hope my book encourages anyone facing a dark period in their life to keep putting one foot in front of the other,” Higgs-Faretta said. “There is not a generic cure for a broken heart, but people must live life knowing they can get through it.”
