Fine Estate Jewelry and More to Feature in Kaminski April Estate Auction
Beverly, MA (PRWEB) April 12, 2014 -- Kaminski Auction’s upcoming April 27th sale will feature an impressive array of fine jewelry, with many large estate collections presented together in the 400-lot auction.
A stunning Edwardian diamond and platinum brooch is poised to be the top lot of the day. The exceptional piece features a total of 20 carats and 35.2 grams of platinum. The open work design expands in a geometric pattern centered on a 2.25 carat diamond, flanked by two single carat coilet set diamonds. The large three inch long brooch is estimated at $45,000 to $50,000.
Also among the top lots is a Mauboussin 18K gold and jadeite necklace from the collection of actor Edward G. Robinson. The necklace, made circa 1930, consists of twelve jadeite cabochons and a one inch square jadeite plaque, all set in eighteen carat gold. Mr. Robinson gave the necklace to his wife, Mrs. Gladys Lloyd Robinson, on the occasion of the premier of his movie Little Caesar. It then passed to the consignor’s family, and descended to the present generation. The necklace is still housed in the original Mauboussin Paris box, and is valued at $30,000 to $50,000.
Jewelry aficionados will certainly be interest in a ladies’ diamond and platinum ring offered as lot 3125 in the upcoming auction. The impressively sized cocktail ring makes a statement with a three carat center stone surrounded by two tiers of diamonds; first a ring of twenty-two baguette cut stones, followed by an exterior ring of twenty marquis cuts. The bold ring is predicted to sell for between $20,000 and $30,000.
Similarly striking is a sapphire and diamond cocktail ring offered as lot 3113. It features an impressive bouquet of sapphires and diamonds arranged in clusters interwoven with ribbons of baguette diamonds. The stones are cut in a variety of shapes including pendeloque, pear, baguette, round, brilliant round, and marquis that all increase the visual interest of this unique piece. Experts have valued the ring between $5,000 and $7,000.
The auction will also offer a collection of American coins, including a Saint-Gaudens twenty dollar “Walking Liberty” gold piece. The 1927 coin is mounted in a gold filigree and sapphire frame, measuring two inches in diameter, and is valued at $2,500 to $3,500.
A gentleman’s Audemars Piguet watch is also among the top lots. The eighteen carat yellow gold watch boasts a lapis lazuli face and two interchangeable straps: one in black suede and the other in blue alligator. It is projected to sell for between $8,000 and $12,000. The sale will also include an eighteen carat gold Baume and Mercier watch, with original box and booklet, appraised at $2,000 to $3,000.
One of the most unique pieces in the sale is certainly a figure of Christ, modeled in carved agate and twenty-two carat gold. The figure, inlaid with bone, and housed in a period mahogany box, belonged to Reverend C. W. King of Trinity College in Cambridge England, circa 1865. Reverend King was known as a major collector of religious antiques in the mid to late nineteenth century. The small, two inch long figure, is estimated to bring between $2,000 and $4,000 at auction.
Preview for the sale will be held April 24th through April 26th, from 10:00am to 5:00pm, with preview hours beginning on April 27th, the day of sale, at 8:00am. Online bidding will be available via KaminskiLIVE, with a full online catalog available at kaminskiauctions.com on April 11th.
