First Federal of Bucks County Presents $50K in Contributions to Eight Organizations
Bristol, PA (PRWEB) February 09, 2015 -- First Federal of Bucks County recently presented generous contributions totaling more than $50,000 to nonprofit organizations that improve the lives of Bucks County residents. This gift is in addition to the funds previously distributed in 2014.
First Federal commits up to 5 percent of its net income each year to charitable institutions that serve Bucks County. For 2014, the bank was able to contribute an additional $50,000 to the groups it supports. That gift was shared among Aldie Counseling Center, Bucks County Opportunity Council, Family Service Association, Habitat for Humanity of Bucks County, HealthLink Medical Center, Network of Victim Assistance (NOVA), United Way of Bucks County, and Vita Education Services.
First Federal President and CEO Jeane M. Coyle and William L. Larkin, Chairman of the First Federal of Bucks County Board of Directors, recently presented checks for these donations to representatives of the organizations. The funds will assist with their day to day operations along with special events and programs.
• Aldie Counseling Center will use $5,000 to target the heroin problem in Bucks County.
• Bucks County Opportunity Council will use $5,000 toward their Emergency Services support program, which provides financial assistance for families to overcome temporary barriers to self-sufficiency.
• Family Service Association will use $5,000 for a program called Autism Awareness, Community Education and Support (AACES) to help adults with autism learn job skills.
• Habitat for Humanity will use $5,000 toward Brush with Kindness, a program that helps low-to-moderate-income seniors stay in their homes by providing repair and maintenance work.
• HealthLink Medical Center will use $10,000 to provide dental to low-income individuals who are working but have no health insurance.
• NOVA will use $5,000 toward its Senior Outreach program, which provides outreach and education such as crime prevention information and safety planning for older adults.
• United Way of Bucks County will use $5,000 toward Bucks Knocks Out Hunger, a community-driven project that unites donors, advocates, and volunteers to fundraise and then pack meals, including locally grown produce, lean proteins, and other items which can be hard for food pantries to secure.
• Vita Education Services will use $10,000 to provide language and job skill training to low-income immigrants.
“First Federal of Bucks County is always the gold standard in community partners. It’s wonderful for us because not only do they run an amazing workplace campaign, but they are also big supporters of other projects throughout the year, including Bucks Knocks out Hunger,” said Marissa Christie, Chairman of the Board of Directors for United Way of Bucks County. “They were our biggest supporter last year and they are continuing to support that project this year and this means a lot to us because fighting hunger and food and security in Bucks County is something we care deeply about and so do our partners at First Federal.”
