First Fully Transformable Ladies' Sandals Prove That Sustainable Fashion is Not Boring
(PRWEB) July 30, 2015 -- Various studies show that women own 20 pairs of shoes on average – and most of them are never worn. Mainly because they are too difficult to match with the outfit or women just easily get bored of them. The International start-up Dooq has just launched its Kickstarter campaign and is here to solve this footwear issue by introducing first fully transformable ladies’ sandals.
“Some people believe sustainable fashion is dull but the very essence of Dooq is based on belief that things which are changing never become boring”, - says Rasa Pekarskaitė, DIY enthusiast and leader of the international Dooq sandals creators’ team.
Rasa with her team mates – Vismantas Kasteckas who has master degree in production management, and Sergi Dominguez Font, expert of industrial design – have deconstructed traditional ladies’ sandals and created shoes that can be customized in various ways. Ladies can choose from entire range of buttons, side straps and upper parts that come in a variety of different shapes, materials, colors and patterns and create their own sandals just in a few seconds. It’s even possible to create one’s own pattern of the sandal’s upper part and have one and only Dooqs in the world.
All elements of this shoe are hand made by European manufacturers. The sole is made in the Mediterranean region – the birthplace of sandals – using regenerated leather. Team says in the future Dooqs’ sole will be made from recycled upper parts of old sandals – and in return to old details of the sandal they will give a discount for a new purchase. Heavy-duty YKK snaps and super strong neodymium magnets are used in the manufacturing process, so nothing will come undone or fall out of place when wearing these sandals.
“The idea to create fully transformable shoes was born three years ago. I was wearing colorful summer clothes that went well with all my accessories - except the shoes. I’ve tried to change some details of my current sandals and this was a great success. After that I decided to start making fully transformable sandals to help other women with their boring shoes problem”, – says Rasa.
Keeping in mind that many different Dooq combinations fits in a small shoe box, these sandals are perfect companion on exotic holiday when one must save space yet have enough different dressing options.
The Dooq team started Kickstarter campaign with the goal to reach 10 000 euros by August 24 and start making these shoes. Dooq sandals can be pre-ordered here, starting from 55 USD.
