First “Giving Day” to Be Held by UNC Kenan-Flagler Business School on March 2
Chapel Hill, N.C. (PRWEB) February 25, 2016 -- The first Giving Day at the University of North Carolina Kenan-Flagler Business School is set for March 2.
“Giving Day is a 24-hour fundraising challenge that asks our community – alumni, students, faculty, staff, parents and friends – to make gifts to the our school,” said Douglas A. Shackelford (BSBA ’80), dean and Meade H. Willis Distinguished Professor of Taxation at UNC Kenan-Flagler. “UNC had a transformative impact on my life and I want to make March 2 the greatest day of giving in the history of UNC Kenan-Flagler so that we can continue to change lives through a Carolina education.”
The challenge starts at midnight and the progress can be tracked throughout the day in a live feed on the Giving Day website. “Every gift – regardless of size – makes an impact on the students, faculty and programs that make UNC Kenan-Flagler great,” Shackelford said.
Starting on the morning of March 2, all donations to the Fund for UNC Kenan-Flagler will be matched one-to-one up to $50,000 by a group of anonymous donors.
A visit from Pho Nomenal Dumpling food truck will be part of Giving Day activities. Co-founded by Sophie Woo (BSBA ’10, MAC ’11), the food truck won the sixth season of Food Network’s “The Great Food Truck Road Race.”
The UNC Kenan-Flagler community is encouraged to spread the word about Giving Day on social media using the #UNCBizDay hash tag.
