First Novel On Minnesota’s I35W Bridge Collapse Debuts August 1, 2013
Minneapolis, MN (PRWEB) July 17, 2013 -- The first novel regarding the I35W Bridge collapse in Minnesota in 2007 will make its debut on the sixth anniversary of the disaster. The Ghosted Bridge, a ghost story set against the backdrop of the real life tragedy and mystical Sedona, Arizona, will be available nationwide from North Star Press of St. Cloud on August 1, 2013.
This debut novel from Minnesota author Kristy Abbott explores the mesmerizing world of supernatural what-ifs following a psychic’s attempt to decipher paranormal clues, a Minnesota woman’s struggle to overcome life’s challenges and a ghost’s desperate bid to stop her from driving onto the bridge at 6:01 p.m. on a fated summer evening.
The modern day ghost story grew from Abbott's fascination with ghosts -- and she's not alone in that interest -- a recent poll by The Huffington Post/YouGuv found that nearly half of Americans believe in ghosts.
The 2007 collapse provided the ideal backdrop for the story. “The bridge collapse was such a galvanizing event,” says Abbott. Every Minnesotan remembers where they were when they heard of the disaster. That gave me the inspiration to write about the theme of what ifs. Suppose someone you barely knew warned you not to go over the bridge that day. What would you have done?”
The I35W Bridge is a major roadway over the Mississippi river between the Twin Cities of Minneapolis and St. Paul. The collapse on August 1, 2007 took 13 lives.
