First of Its Kind LGBTQ Outdoors Summit Comes to Seattle

SEATTLE (PRWEB) October 13, 2017 -- Pride Outside and Out There Adventures are partnering to host the first of its kind LGBTQ Outdoor Summit. The summit is a chance to bring together over 100 folks from the outdoor industry and conservation community to cultivate connections, build community, and promote representation and inclusion of the LGBTQ community in the outdoors.

“Our public lands belong to all of us and everyone deserves the chance to enjoy time in the great outdoors,” said Hannah Malvin Wilderness Society Recreation Policy Associate. “We’re excited to bring together representatives from the conservation community and outdoor industry for the first of its kind summit.”

The two-day summit will take place on Friday October 13th and Saturday October 14th at the Seattle flagship REI store with a visit to Klondike Gold Rush National Historical Park. Speakers include Brady Walkinshaw, CEO of Grist; Kris Hermanns, CEO of the Pride Foundation and equity leaders in the outdoor industry and conservation community

“This will be an unprecedented opportunity to shine a light on the LGBTQ community and the outdoors so we can boost representation, promote inclusive opportunities, and break down barriers to access,” continued Malvin.

Sponsors include The Wilderness Society, National Wildlife Federation, the Sierra Club, REI, National Park Conservation Association, the Nature Conservancy, Northwest Youth Corps, The North Face, Audobon, and Student Conservation Association.
