First Response Now Offer Own Certificated First Aid At Work Courses
Walsall, West Midlands (PRWEB UK) 30 October 2013 -- Following the removal of the requirement for HSE to approve first aid training organisations, the Walsall based training provider, First Response First Aid are offering both their own First Aid at Work and Emergency First Aid at Work courses regulated by the First Aid Industry Body and if required courses regulated by Ofqual.
On 1st October 2013 The Health and Safety (First-aid) Regulations 1981 was amended to remove the requirement for HSE to approve the training and qualifications of appointed first-aid personnel. This effectively means employers now have more options when choosing a first aid training provider. As long as they take into account a needs assessment and due diligence, employers are now able to choose the most suitable training provider to meet their requirements.
First Response First Aid have been delivering first aid and other workplace training courses to delegates across the West Midlands and throughout the UK since 1999. The recent changes to regulations have given them the opportunity to continue delivering their high quality courses without imposing additional costs to that associated with Ofqual. In addition First Response First Aid can provide Ofqual regulated First Aid courses if their customers require it.
In order to deliver reassurance to customers, all First Response First Aid systems and procedures are compliant with the Assessment Principles for First Aid Qualifications and can provide the required evidence on request. The quality of training does not differ whether customers choose First Response qualifications or Ofqual regulated qualifications - the only difference is the price paid for the Ofqual certification.
Speaking of how First Response First Aid has responded to the new changes in regulations, Managing Director Gareth Curtis said:
“Due to the quality assurance systems we have in place, we are able to operate independently and certificate our own First Aid at Work and Emergency First Aid at Work courses. This means our customers don’t have to pay an additional per-person price for certificates like they would if it was an Ofqual regulated qualification.”
Gareth also highlighted the importance of being cautious:
”If your training provider can only offer Ofqual regulated First Aid Qualifications this does not guarantee that they are experienced in First Aid Training. There will be lots of sole traders operating this system and they could potentially have just completed a 3 day First Aid at Work course and a week-long teaching qualification and could likely have very little or no industry and teaching experience in first aid.
“It is so important that learners attending First Aid courses don’t just go away with a certificate that says they are competent but actually go away with the confidence to act in an emergency situation. Confidence is something you will take away from a First Response First Aid course in addition to a certificate of competence," he added.
