FirstService Residential-Managed Community Kings Point Honored at the 2015 Florida Communities of Excellence
Weston,FL (PRWEB) June 16, 2015 -- Kings Point in Sun City Center (Kings Point Suncoast) has been awarded a 2015 Florida Communities of Excellence Award in the category of Disaster Preparedness Initiatives.
Now in its seventh year, Florida Communities of Excellence is the only comprehensive, independent recognition program for community associations statewide. The annual awards ceremony is a forum for the top communities in the state to promote their accomplishments and document their successes in a variety of areas, allowing peers to learn from their examples and innovations.
The feat was accomplished thanks to a close partnership between the Board of Directors of Kings Point and FirstService Residential. Together, they enlisted the assistance of several key professional organizations to provide support to Kings Point residents and volunteers and establish a comprehensive plan to meet the needs and secure the safety of over 5500 homes in the event of a hurricane or other disaster. These include Vesta Property Services; Mack, Mack & Waltz Insurance Agency; American Strategic Insurance (ASI); and landscape companies Mainscape and ValleyCrest. Key points of the plan include:
• Community volunteers operate emergency radio system in conjunction with Sun City Center CERT, Hillsborough County EOC and FEMA to provide emergency communications for the community in the event of a disaster.
• FirstService Residential informs residents of emergency situations through a telephone alert system, and coordinates with Mack, Mack & Waltz Insurance Agency and ASI to provide emergency repairs to damaged homes. ASI mobilizes select contractors to make needed repairs.
• Vesta Property Services secures gates and patrols community, restores three clubhouses and amenities to get Kings Point back up and running as soon as possible.
• Mainscape Landscaping mobilizes to clear trees and debris from community roads.

Each year, we meet to review our plans and coordinate efforts among all the players. Fortunately, we have not had to implement our emergency plan – but we are prepared if necessary.”
