Five Best Things to Do in Chicago in September Announced by ChicagoTraveler.com
Chicago, IL (PRWEB) August 31, 2013 -- There is never enough time in September, and this year is not unlike all the others! With festivals galore this September, Chicago locals and travelers won’t be able to find time to rest. ChicagoTraveler.com suggests groovin’ at the Chicago Jazz Festival, boozin’ at Berghoff Okotoberfest, and chowin, at either Apple Fest or getting a little greasier at the 4th Annual Bacon Takedown. The editors also included a favorite activity to tour around town, Bobby's Bike Hike.
1.) Chicago Jazz Festival
Already a few days into this year’s Chicago Jazzfest, travelers and locals are urged not to miss the rest of this week’s music extravaganza. Music usually starts around 11:00 am, and lasts until around 10:00 pm. With the festival ending on September 1, make sure to get those dancing shoes on before they are put on the shelf until next year.
2.) Berghoff Oktoberfest
Berghoff is the largest and most anticipated Oktoberfest in Chicago, so don’t miss the action this September 11-13. Free admission to the festival helps with the amount of booze that will be chugged.
3.) Apple Fest
For the 26th year, the Lincoln Square Ravenswood Apple Fest is bringing pies, hot cider, and other fruity delights to the streets! The festival boasts local musicians, incredible edible treats, and the vendors sellings wonderful fall apparel. Come join the fun on September 21 from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm on 4700 block of N. Lincoln Ave.
4.) Bacon Takedown
Everybody loves bacon. What about 15 lbs of bacon? Now that’s a lot of pork. This years Chicago bacon takedown is coming up on September 14 from 2 pm to 4 pm, so get greasy and chow down on some meat. It’s $15 for all the bacon you can get your hands on. Pig out at Lincoln Hall, and try to become friends with the cook who is taking home a year’s supply of bacon.
5.) Bobby’s Bike Hike
There is no better way to explore Chicago than by bike, and Bobby’s Bike Hike does it right. The editors of ChicagoTraveler.com recommend the Bikes, Bikes, & Brews tour, where bikers work up an appetite and sample pizza, cupcakes, and hotdogs. Wash it all down with tasty Chicago suds!
